omya

On March 3rd, Omya Industries officially opened its North American headquarters at 9987 Carver Woods Drive in Blue Ash. Omya, a Swiss-owned company, relocated its headquarters operations from Proctor, Vermont.

Omya officials chose Blue Ash because of the proximity to major freeways, supportive business environment and amenities. Duke Realty’s Landings II facility was also a major factor in the relocation decision because of its attractive design, ample parking and location in Blue Ash.

Attracting Omya to the area was a regional effort that included assistance from the Cincinnati USA Regional Partnership and City of Blue Ash officials. John Suddarth, Vice President of Human Resources said, “ Relocating to a new community is never an easy undertaking but the local and regional development professionals made this process a very positive experience for our team.”

Omya has leased 26,000 sq. ft. and expects to have 66 people on staff by year end. While Vermont based employees are relocating to Blue Ash, Terri Ballou, Omya’s Human Resource Manager said they plan to fill remaining positions locally. Candidates fluent in Portuguese and Spanish are especially desirable because of Omya’s business relationships in South America.

Omya mines and then grinds marble into calcium carbonate, a mineral used in the paper, plastics, paints, food and pharmaceutical industries. Omya employees 700 employees at its facilities in the United States and Canada. They are headquartered in Oftringen, Switzerland.
